About Doi Tung Forest Park

Doi Tung Forest Park is located in the northernmost region of Thailand within Chiang Rai Province, near the border with Myanmar and Laos. The park is centered around the Doi Tung mountain, which reaches an elevation of approximately 1,389 meters (4,560 feet). Covering fertile forested slopes, the park features a cooler climate than the lowlands, supporting diverse plant and animal life including tropical forests, orchids, rhododendrons, and various bird species. The park is culturally significant due to the Mae Fah Luang Development Project initiated by the late Princess Mother Srinagarindra, focused on sustainable development and reforestation after decades of deforestation. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views from viewpoint areas, stroll through well-maintained botanical gardens, and learn about local hill tribe communities and their traditions. Doi Tung Forest Park also serves as a gateway for trekking routes, bird watching, and experiencing the blend of natural beauty and cultural history. Key landmarks include the Doi Tung Royal Villa and Mae Fah Luang Garden nearby, popular spots with visitors for their historical and horticultural significance. The park’s combination of cool mountain air, scenic landscapes, and rich cultural elements attracts thousands of visitors annually who seek both relaxation and outdoor adventure in a serene environment.
